Beth had a premonition that today the Viscountess may not come to teach Claire.

I think this hunch is spot on.

Beth felt that her appointment would proceed as she planned. For some reason she felt sure that her plan won’t fall through.

There is nothing absolute in the world.

With these thoughts, Beth took a deep breath and received breakfast for Claire. The glossy croissant with a brown shade – it made one’s mouth water just from its appearance. The buttery sweet smell wafted from the freshly baked croissant and even though she already had breakfast, stimulated her stomach. Cheese topped on fresh tomatoes for salad, cream soup with plenty of bacon, grapes and orange juice were prepared beforehand.

After a hearty breakfast and fitting of  the dresses made by Cheryl, Beth thought it was not a bad idea to go for a small picnic. Since everything turned out like this, how about taking Claire to the downtown?

She noticed that Claire seemed to like the candies she had previously bought. Though Claire was now able to eat more tasty and expensive food, Beth thought about the appearance of Claire, who had coquettishly said to her that she wished to eat the candies Beth had brought for her.

It would be a not-so-bad experience to go by herself and choose. Beth planned as she walked through the passageway and shook her head. With her white silk pajamas, Claire as usual slept on her bed – calm and quiet.

Previously, even before someone woke her up, the child would have already woken up, unsure of what to do next. But now, as she got adapted, even when someone entered her room, she slept unaffected.

Beth put down the silver tray on the round table near the bed and gently patted Claire’s head. The child rustled.

“Miss, it’s already morning, wake up.” Beth whispered to Claire as if she was a precious younger sibling. As she feared that if she directly opened the curtain, the blinding rays would form a frown upon Claire, Beth gently patted Claire to wake her up.

To touch a noble was a punishable offence for lower class people and it could put Beth in trouble, but Claire loved how Beth woke her like this. Maybe this was because Claire was a child who grew up without any affection.

Beth gently embraced the child who cutely sat up on the bed and gently patted her back. The child’s eyes were closed but she smelled the faint scent of soap followed by a sweet fragrance from a soft skin.

Beth’s scent.

Beth was a strange person. She was not an aristocrat and as she worked as a maid,  she never adorned herself in fancy decoration nor elegant fragrance, however she always gave out a beautiful scent. It seemed as if the other maids too used the same soap to wash their clothes and bath their bodies but it was different from Beth.

The child opened her eyes and looked up at Beth. Those beautiful opal eyes, even in the dim room dulled by the closed curtains, shone brightly. Beth sensed that Claire had woken up and said in an affectionate tone, “Good morning, Young Miss.”

“Mm, did Beth also sleep well?”

“Of course. I brought breakfast. Eat before it gets cold.”

Claire stood up and treaded the thick curtain apart. The sun rays filled up the room and shone brilliantly. As the rays fell on Beth who stood near the window, her hair reminded one of the golden colored wheat fields. Claire had never seen a wheat field, so there was no picture for her to think of, but she thought that it must be beautiful.

Claire sat on a tall oversized chair and enjoyed a rich and tasty breakfast without a fail. Compared to before, the food was of good quality which put some flesh on those thin arms and those sullen cheeks turned rosy and tender.

Beth stood beside Claire and held a kettle with cool water. She pondered when would be the right time to inform Claire that today she may not have class.

It can’t be said too early neither too late. Claire was completely unaware of Beth’s mind theater. These days, the Viscountess seemed to teach her a lot of things. Beth felt it too cute, with a slight smile she filled up her empty glass.

Someone knocked the door and even before they heard the words of consent, Beth’s name was called out.

“Beth.”

There were not many who would do such a thing.

“Kedrick.”

So, even before he made any sound, Beth became aware that it was Kedrick.

“It would be better to take a look outside.”

“Mm…. What’s the matter?”

With a you will know once you take a look face, Kedrick didn’t answer. As she saw him with a smile, Beth took a glance at the clock.

The time was 10 :30 am. Aha.The time of Viscountess’s arrival.

“Kedrick, I am leaving the Miss in your care.”

Claire gently swung her legs and her eyes shuddered as if she was nervous. Claire also took a glance at the time and ‘How can I continue to eat?!’ was vividly written on her face.

Kedrick flopped down near Claire as if he was well aware of Claire’s concern and laughed hard. Beth had a lot of words to say about Kedric’s insufficient attitude, but right now, she had other things to tend to. Beth closed the door and walked to the main entrance in hurried steps. She could scold him another time.

But this thing, which was exciting to even think about, can’t be witnessed if she missed this opportunity. As she moved closer to the main entrance, she felt the atmosphere turn cold. At least there was some noise from people who walked and the hems of the dresses trailed the ground, but slowly it was sunken into dead silence.

Beth walked with light steps, but due to the extreme silence and fear that even the sound of these light steps would ring far and wide, she walked more carefully and decided to take a peek at the current situation. It was the time when guests usually arrived, so Beth turned a full circle and stealthily walked to the main entrance and carefully observed the atmosphere.

At the top of the Stairs stood the Countess, a little far from the door, the Viscountess.

Just a few days ago, they had laughed and giggled together. Now those moments seemed like they were just an illusion and now both shot fire at each other with their eyes as if they were mortal enemies.

Beth checked the time and looked at the people around. She rolled her eyes and fixed her gaze downwards.

After a few minutes, the door was opened with a loud BANG!.

“Hello! I am Cheryl, Second-in Designer of April Boutique~.”

“.….. Well?”

Unfitting the heavy atmosphere, a cheery and silvery voice resonated. Thanks to that voice, the ambience became all the more awkward. Cheryl who was the causative of all this, in a completely oblivious manner blinked her eyes and tilted her head.

“What is the matter? All are wearing such a tearful face from morning itself! Everyone, please smile!~ Always start a new day with a smile!”

Though Beth reckoned that Cheryl would arrive early, she never expected her to arrive this early. If the dresses designed by Cheryl were not highly favored by the Young Miss of the higher ranked Marquis manor, her body and head would be separated right there and then.

Cheryl giggled in the midst of that dead silence. With a tender and bright smile pasted on her face, she went forth towards the Viscountess. At this point of time, Beth felt a large amount of admiration for her. To act as usual even in the midst of such a chilly atmosphere, it was impossible for someone with normal guts.

“Aren’t you Viscountess Effie? So good to meet you~ Very, very beautiful as always!!!”

“Ah, Cheryl.”

The Viscountess gathered her stare from the Countess and showed a gentle smile at Cheryl. Just like always, a person who gave importance to the appearance shown to others. They always adhered to the etiquette to never throw their temper at irrelevant people. For Beth, who always thought that there was no need to give a good look at people out of her sight, was all ready to crookedly watch every word and action of the Viscountess.

Cheryl talked to the Viscountess of this and that with a tender and soft voice. With an Ah, she said as if she suddenly remembered something.

“I am only saying it like that. Madam, these days you don’t visit the salon….. Did something happen? A new dress of elegant design, especially fit for the madame has arrived. Do come to take a look.”

Cheryl said to Viscountess Effie beaming with a smile and the Viscountess looked at the Countess, sneering.

“Ahh, Cheryl. Too bad, Recently there is no party worthy for me to attend so there is no need to buy a new dress.”

“.….!”

As she heard those words, the face of the Countess turned red then pale. The Viscountess only just spit out some sarcastic words towards the Countess who didn’t invite her to the party, but for the Countess who was unaware of the invitation incident, received its meaning as the party (though it was the celebratory party for Claire’s recovery) she invited the Viscountess was not worthy of her to attend.

“What a loss, Viscountess Effie.” The Countess said pronouncing each letter loud and clear. “It’s just that I am unable to hold a party of your level.”

The comment was to satirize the words and deeds of the Viscountess, but the Viscountess interpreted it fitting to her situation.

“From today on I am firing you from the position of Claire’s Etiquette teacher.”

“Just what I wanted.” The Viscountess without any hesitation turned her body and went out of the Earl mansion with loud steps.

Cheryl could only watch the scene restlessly. Because no matter how tactless she was, at least she could tell that the current situation was not good.

Watching the show, Beth was elated with joy. Beth, who stood with her head bowed, recorded everything in her eyes and ears.

That was easy.

It was easier than she expected. It was too easy that even she was a bit unsettled. Now Beth could devote some more days for Claire as the party scheduled was coming closer, everything was done more sloppily.

Now through the light lipped Cheryl, rumors would be burst among countless aristocrats. To tell the truth, the only mistake of the Viscountess was to neglect Claire. But there was no way for Cheryl to know about this, so the words to reach out would be that everything was the Countess’s fault.

This would only be a start for her to gradually become an outcast from the high class society.

At a level you won’t recognize. The aspect that it was fundamental for noblities not to disclose their emotions openly was really convenient. They do talk back, but couldn’t openly expose their emotions nakedly.

In [The Villainess changed her Destiny.], the Crown Prince felt a fresh charm from the transmigrated Cecil, because she was a modern woman, and knew to open up her emotions easily.

If it was the original Beth, then the male protagonist, Arthur, the one and only Crown Prince of the Country…… She would just slightly click her tongue thinking of this sole Heir. And if it was not for the disturbance created by Beth, they would have met after some years.

With a BANG sound, the mansion door was shut. That was really an uncultured action. The Countess, as if she no longer wanted to see even a vestige of the Viscountess, snorted and went back to her room in large strides.

The remaining servants with awkward and loud coughs went back to their positions as if nothing happened. After a minute the only ones who remained were Cheryl and Beth.

“.….Cheryl, I will lead the way.”

“.…Yes~ I will be in your care~!”

Both of them tried to speak some short words with their usual tone like nothing had happened and after that went towards the room in which Claire waited.

In the room, Kedrick played with Claire making rabbit figurines with towels. They could see that Claire was smiling and enjoying 8 rabbit figurines.

As expected……. Beth thought seeing such a scene.

As expected Claire was the best, it’s always best for children to be happy.

—————————–

Beth put up with the words and deeds of the bustling Cheryl. She had only seen it just a few times, but felt bored of it as if she had seen it foir a 100 times.

No, in truth she is fed up with it. According to Beth, Cheryl was easy to handle, discard difficulties and quite fine. Because she was an extreme case.

Cheryl led Claire into the dressing room. Beth then saw the now 9 towel figurines of rabbits surrounding there.

“What skillful hands.”

“I also didn’t know that I was quite talented in making things.”

The image of Claire’s happy face when she saw the towel figurines was still vivid in her mind. So she carefully picked them one by one and placed it atop the table. Don’t know where he found those ribbons, all the rabbits had colourful ribbons tied to their neck.

“How about making a rabbit figurine resembling Beth?”

“All look the same. So how can you make one resembling me?”

“Haha, I will make it for you next time.”

No need. Apart from the fact that she really didn’t want it, he was too annoying. As it would be more annoying to say more words, she shut her mouth and waited for Claire to come out.

Though Kedric felt lost to this behaviour of Beth, but shamelessly stood beside Beth with a slight grin on his face and waited along with her for the little Agassi to come out.

Before long, the large door opened with a burst and unlike wearing her usual dresses, the Little Claire wearing a gorgeous outfit showed up.

“Tada~!”

At some point Cheryl stood side by side with Beth, her eyes glittered as if to say that this was her masterpiece and cheeks were flushed red.

“Ooh……”

“Ooh…..”

From the round neckline till a little lower below the chest, laces were adorned in flaps like white flower petals. From the end of the face, everywhere vines were embroidered in golden thread. On both shoulders a deep violet ribbon was tied. Because of the glossy light blue cloth, whenever the light falls on it, it will gleam with a silver color. The luxuriant frills danced bouncily at the hem oh the skirt. Seeing the gem embedded in the waist ribbon, both Beth and Kedric simultaneously thought alike.

“.….Too much.”

Whether the designer was so ignited with motivation, too fancy, even the lace was too much. If she was not wrong with her thought in one word, the dress like a silver hairtail…. but it was a test for her aesthetics.

The waist ribbon was too fairy, in the part that connected the frills, why is there such a big flower embedded there, Kedric couldn’t understand it at all. He just stood there as his mouth smoothed in a line. In other words, dead eyes.

At the same time he thought.

It seems like the trend must be like this these days.

Both were uninterested in the fashion trends of the aristocrats nor had any thought to figure it out/understand it. So Both thought that it must be because they didn’t know the trend and decided to throw it to the back of their minds.

Cheryl also didn’t seem like to make this kind of dress to be pointed out by others. Other than it being too fancy, the dress was filled with remarkable mood.

But Claire whose cheeks were flushed red as if she loved the dress, she looked too cute and lovely. Seeing such a lovely Agassi, Beth smiled sweeter than ever. The smile was too gentle and sweet that even Kedric was charmed by it for a moment.

“Cheryl.”

“Yes?”

Beth whispered in a low voice only enough to be heard by Cheryl, “The things that you just saw when you entered the mansion, it must be kept secret….. you understand?”

I wish you to spread this rumor as far and wide as possible.
