MY FIRST DANCE FOR YOU (1)

Tonight, the party arranged for Claire would commence. But it’s really strange, the party was organized for the child, but it was arranged at night, when kids usually would sleep.

Ultimately it’s the party for adults.

Beth decided to rationalize it in her own way.

In the midst of preparations, Beth was the only maid allocated for Claire. If Claire randomly found some maids and asked them to help her, it would buy suspicion from the Earl. Even though she was irritated, Beth bit down her anger and undertook Claire alone.

With an exhausted body, Beth walked through the corridor as she pressed hard around her eyes. Today too there was no time for rest. She took care of Claire, instructed the things that needed to be done to Kedrick, and other miscellaneous works….. at the same time she planned on how to screw the Earl couple and their kids, etc. The work handled by Beth on her own was too much.

According to Claire’s physical strength, if she was to be dressed from the afternoon itself, it was for sure she would be worn out, so it would be better to dress just before the party. After lunch, a letter arrived for Beth.

I seem to receive too many letters lately.

Even if she received many letters, usually they were all from James. The letter she held appeared similar to blue lemonade, ironically it was sent by James who was incapable of even making a simple lemon tea.

The content of the letter was brief, just like his style. Meet me at Petit Salon. Though there were some flowery words, since the conclusion was just this much, Beth dressed Claire in a simple outing cloth and went to the Petit Salon.

She didn’t take Kedrick with her, but he helped himself and followed them. Though it was for certain, the dress she wore that day was a simple and convenient dress designed by Dana.

One of the best aspects of Dana’s costumes were, unlike stuffy but outwardly extravagant and fancy clothes, they were breathable. With a pure and clear smile, Claire ran towards the horse carriage and hopped into it with the help of Kedrick.

Claire had very few opportunities to come out. So her face was glued to the carriage window and looked outside with bright and shining eyes. Kedrick sat beside her and explained to her which building was which as they passed each building and Claire listened to it with the attentiveness of a child listening to a bedtime story.

As they went past one, Kedrick pointed to a building and said that it was a Candy Shop, with shiny eyes Claire answered clearly to Kedrick that the candies brought by Beth were really tasty.

In between, Kedrick also teased her with lies as he pointed to some random building, but Claire would be fooled each time. When her innocent Young Miss was fooled each time by Kedrick, the omniscient Beth contemplated on how to punish this Knight guy with no bell and break personality. In the time Beth was busy thinking about it, the carriage reached Petit Salon.

“Hearty welcome.” Dana welcomed the party of Claire with a rather poised manner compared to before. The varieties of dresses had also increased than before  –  the business seemed to run pretty well.

There are also some staff members.

It seemed to be the  uniform here, Beth thought, as she saw some staff wearing a light blue colour Blouse with a black skirt. After softly greeting Claire, Dana lowered her till their eyes met,  “Miss Claire, I made a dress to give you. Can you try it once?”

Beth stood and watched Claire blink her big round eyes with Why a dress all of a sudden? clearly written on her face and lightly patted her back. “It looks like Miss Brian is also aware that, today there will be a party to announce the recovery ofMiss. How about giving it a try? I will be waiting outside.”

Only after Beth said those words did Claire awkwardly follow the employees to the dressing room. Seeing Beth turning towards her 3 times with each step, Beth just stood her and waved her hands towards her. Only after Claire went into the dressing room, did the remaining three sit on the sofa and drank the tea. James that should be here in the first place was nowhere to be seen.

“Miss Brian, James…”

[Squeak]

As Beth was going to ask where James was, he came in opening the door and hung his coat on the hanger beside the door. His hair looked disheveled as if he had some exhausting things to do. James paused for a moment when he saw Kedrick but then sat on the sofa with a flop. James shot a look at Beth with the meaning that Why is this guy here?

After taking a sip from the lemon tea, Beth called Kedric in a low voice: “Kedrick.”

“What?”

As soon as Beth called, Kedrick placed dry apricots back on the table.

“Go out and take a round around the town and come back.”

“Why?”

“Just go around. This is the punishment for fooling Miss with lies earlier.”

When he heard that, without saying more, Kedrick took the sword hung on his waist and gave it to Beth. After bidding bye, he left the Salon. As she fiddled with that heavy sword, Beth looked at James with indifferent eyes: “Found him?”

“Yes.”

James took a deep breath after Kedrick completely left the Salon. He took out a card from his inside pocket and handed it over to Beth.

“Entry pass.” Beth checked the date written on it. A week from today. My luck is good.

If it was already over, set on a quite long date, held in some far away Fief, it would have been impossible for her to attend. Whether to say it as a coincidence or fate, the auction was held after a week in the Fief of Baron Hyde adjacent to Gordon Fief. She would be able to go after she took leave for some days.

“He is the only child that fits your conditions. If not, there is nothing else to do. If even we are unable to find him, then he simply cannot be found.”

“I know, James. The fact that you are able to even dig beyond the royal family even though your tea is terrible.”

“Was that tea that terrible?”

“Very much. Miss Brian is such a role model type person. Aren’t you guys friends from childhood, how can you guys be this distinct?”

When Beth said that, James looked at her with wide eyes. “How did you know that I and Dana have been friends since childhood?”

Oops. Beth realized that she had misspoke.

But fortunately she was not an expressive person so Beth quickly turned in her head for a short moment of time. “I could tell it from the flowers and words you said on the day we first met.”

“.…..?”

“It was a large bouquet of Peony. Either from the ribbon or the wrapper used, it must be from the high-class flower shop in here. So at first I suspected that you guys must have a lover relationship. But I couldn’t see that much diligence.”

“Diligence…..”

“Yes, Diligence.”

Beth went on with her words shamelessly.

“When we first met you said that young miss. Which means Miss Brian said everything that happened at that time to you, so your relationship must be more closer than just friends. Judging from the personality of Miss Brian, I thought that you guys must have known each other for a long time.” It was such a brazen answer even to her own standards.

Thinking there was no part enough to make another vomit, she took a dried apricot and put it in her mouth.

James wanted to say something, but at that time, Claire called out for Beth in a small voice. Claire changed into a pink dress ornate with beautiful white flowers and ran with her small legs towards Beth enthusiastically.

When an innocent and ignorant child came into the frame, James shut his mouth and showed a gentle smile: “I will let you know everything that you are anxious to hear, after everything ends.”

Claire looked like a flower fairy and Beth showed a gratifying smile and said to Dana that she would be taking the dress and stood up from her seat.

“One . . one minute.”

In between when Claire went into change back, Dana carefully gave a box to Beth. “This….?”

“I heard from James… that opening this shop was completely because of Beth.”

“It was for the sake of Miss.”

Why did he look for such information? James who dug up such worthless information solely because of his concern for his only friend  –  just for a second Beth thought that he was cute.

“Even if it’s like that…. it was a good opportunity for me…. S . . so, I made this for Beth.”

Opening the box without any ribbon tied to it, a black dress was neatly folded in it. There were crystals embedded in many places which gave an illusion of a night sky with many stars.

Dana shook her hands saying that the crystals she used are of affordable price so no need feel troubled. Her ability was so good that, even when using such low cost, it looked more beautiful than any gems on other dresses. Beth closed the box and nodded in greeting.

“Soon it will be time for Miss Claire’s party.”

“Yes, but because I am a maid, I can’t participate.”

Even if it was like that, having a dress was beneficial. Since it would be absurdly expensive to buy it with her own money, it would be nice to wear on occasions when she needed to wear a dress, or she could also sell it when she was tight on money.

“Still, please accept it. It’s because… I am thankful.”

For what?

It was obvious for Dana to feel gratitude towards Beth. Just like what she told before, that this was an excellent opportunity for Dana. But none of Beth’s deeds were for the sake of Dana.

Everything was for the sake of Claire.

Beth didn’t give any reply to Dana and just raised an eyebrow. As soon as Claire came out, Beth held the box on one hand and left the salon after she thanked Dana and bid her goodbye.

As they got in the carriage and were ready to set out,  the coachman blanked for five seconds. He asked: “Where is Kedrick?”

Beth thought that he would return to the mansion on his own. Should I really set out?

“Then are we going to set out for a fake?”

The coachman looked at Beth with shaky eyes. Claire was also very much shaken by Beth’s decision.

“Be . . Beth?”

“Miss, he said it was for training. Please don’t worry about it. Because this much exercise everyday is basic for the knights of the Earl Mansion.”

In truth, Beth was also not sure. That’s why she mixed up the question without directly answering. There was no time to wait for Kedric.

There was not even 12 hours before the party started, so she needed to put in all her strength to doll up Claire. If today too, Beth was the only maid assigned to Claire, then each second gone will be counted as lost. Beth strongly pressed down her throbbing temples and calmly collected her thoughts. Beth arranged the order of her work in order not to get stuck and soon heard that they reached the Earl mansion from the coachman.

“Let’s get down, Miss.”

When Beth was going to open the door to help Claire get down, someone beat her to opening the door.

“.…….”

“I won’t abandon you guys as you expected.”

“Kedrick.”

She certainly said to him to run around the town, but a man with a clean look stood before the carriage with a grin. He came down on his knees and offered his hands to Beth.

“Get down.”

She really wanted to get down on her own, but the remaining space was too little, so she meekly took his hand and stepped on his knees as a support and got down.

As soon as Beth got down, Kedrick very naturally hugged Claire out of the carriage and gave her candies –  God knows when he brought them. With large strides, he went forth into the mansion.

Beth followed after KedricK with a sullen face. “What are you doing?”

“I am leading Miss to her room.”

Claire was too heavy for Beth to carry, so such a job must be left to her guard. With a smile he slowed down and walked to match Beth’s pace.

When Beth was about to take back Claire , she saw Claire hugging onto Kedrick with a very comfortable expression. Beth was surprised. Claire would always show some resistance and uncomfortableness when other elders approach her. Thinking about this, Beth felt this scene quite strange. Expect for Beth, everyone liked Kedrick. Was it because he was handsome? If it was the case, Beth should also have liked him.

However, Beth didn’t like Kedrick. Even when they met for the first time, she didn’t have much thought when she saw his handsome face.  She didn’t know any other word than weird to describe that guy.

“Kedrick.”

“Yes?”

“There won’t be any other person like you in this world.”

Beth did not know what in her words impressed Kedrick so much that he burst into laughter.

Beth felt even that laughter quite strange. His leisurely attitude, that laughter …. there was nothing in him that wasn’t strange.

“Don’t laugh.”

“Why? Because you feel affectionate?”

“No, because I feel disgusted.”

“I am hearing such words for the first time.” Anyway, it was not of Beth’s business whether he was strange or not.
