MLPBMH Chapter 27

10 Gold Life (2)

The owner of the auction house jumped up at the news that an unidentified woman with a VIP ticket appeared. They then ran out when she said that she had brought a slave to commemorate her first visit.

No matter how much the owner thinks about it, it’s a suspicious existence, and it was because the owner was suspicious of whether the woman was a spy sent from the imperial court.

And the thought disappeared as soon as he saw Kedrick’s face. As he looked into his eyes to see how such beauty existed in the world, he remembered a childhood friend who passed away from an illness a long time ago.

How lovely it was, with dark hair like the night sky and clear blue eyes like the cold sea… The day when those clear eyes were closed forever remained a very painful memory.

He was reminded of the painful memories of childhood, and pretended to wipe away the tears, and guided the two deeper.

He said, “When I heard that I had such precious guests, I must have a good dream tonight.” and laughed as he showed a pleasant face to Beth. However, in Beth’s mind, he was already perceived as a poisonous pig in this society who sold humans.

No, a pig might be more beneficial. That creature has nothing to throw away, but that human has nothing of use. On the outside, she kept her calm look while she hid her disgust.

“We were embarrassed because the item we were selling for the auction was running away… With this level of excellence, we’ll be able to get a hot start in history.”

“Ah, I see.”

Click, Kedrick’s hands and neck were handcuffed. In no time, the sword in his waist was taken and he was surrounded by huge men and taken away.

Without any resistance, Beth looked at Kedrick’s vacant spot as she fluttered her eyes, and turned her head.

“Where should I go?”

“Ah! I’ve put you up for too long. This way.”

The seat he led was a spacious and fluffy sofa. It was located on the second floor, and she could easily see the first floor.

In order to prevent the face from being exposed, the tent was draped so that the inside could not be seen from the outside, and a magic loudspeaker was also prepared for the people on the second floor.

On the table next to the sofa, she saw wine in an ice basket, a wine glass, and opera glasses.

“Well, that’s not bad.” Beth thought this was really worth the money.

“Thank you.”

The unique clothes he saw for the first time, the way she treated him as if she was so natural, and that expression that she wasn’t impressed with anyone, made her look like a mistress from a high family.

Beth sat back on the sofa, then raised her head.

“You can go.”

“… Yes! If you need anything, please pull the rope on the left.”

In addition, he left a sign used to participate in the auction on the table.

As soon as he left, Beth sat down, pulled out the wine in the ice basket, looked at the label, and whistled.

After sitting upright all the time, she finally sat comfortably and her whole body melted away. The place itself was so-so, but the sofa was so good, it was clear that it was of much better quality than the Count’s sofa.

“It’s not bad.”

When it comes to wine, she was an outsider, but she remembers seeing the label of the wine she held.

Since Count Gordon often enjoyed drinking something similar to this, it was clear that the commoners could not drink it, even if it was not very expensive.

Not every seat will have this wine, so it was obvious that she was treated quite preciously in this place.

First of all, the ticket was also a VIP. She just knew it was an admission ticket, but she didn’t know it was of great worth.

Though James had complained, he was good at handling his business and had loyalty. Beth thought as she fiddled with the opera glasses.

The first floor has narrower sofas on which many people sat in a large space. Everyone wore strange masks so that they couldn’t see each other’s faces.

If James hadn’t given her a VIP ticket, Beth would have had to wear that weird mask as well.

“Hmm.”

Beth promised to make some delicious lemon tea in return next time, and put the wine she had taken out into the ice bucket again.

As time passed, the lights that brightly lit up the hall without windows began to gradually go out one by one and spotlights gathered toward the stage.

Beth wore the mask even though she felt the displeasure earlier.  She turned to the person who guided her and saw that he also watched the stage. Beth turned back at the stage with an opera glass in hand.

On the wide stage, the host said something.

It seemed to be an unnecessary intro, so Beth ignored it.  Then he said the rules of the auction house. Be sure to listen to the signs, do not shout loudly. Very basic information.

“Now, now! Let’s get started! Last time we said we had a female slave to announce the start of the day.”

He explained how valuable the female slave was, and was able to do the wind magic.

And said, “Unfortunately, the slave died.”

You said she ran away.

Was it because he thought other guests would complain if he let them know she ran away? From Beth’s point of view, for that reason, it would be better to inform it like so.

She doesn’t care because she didn’t have any plans or thoughts to run these things anyway. While Beth thought about something unfruitful, a rumbling sound was heard.

“Oh.”

It was Kedrick.

The coat he wore was completely stripped off, and he had on only a shirt with a few loose buttons and ironed pants. To stand in a place like this might have felt overwhelming, but he didn’t show any impacts of pressure.

He smiled as he was with Beth. As if all this was just a part of the play.

She didn’t want him to be scared, but that posture, unchanged even at this moment, she didn’t like.

If the reaction was the same in everything, it meant the same for Kedrick no matter what.

“This is a male slave ~.”

Come to think of it, Beth said that Kedrick was just a slave, not explaining what he was doing.

Beth listened to how he would explain who Kedrick was.

“From the bed of a high-ranking madam.”

“…..what? ” Beth’s posture, which was upright, crumbled.

“In the daytime, this beautiful appearance gives joy, and at night with the body…”

What the hell happened in there? Beth’s pupils shook.

It was not that she wasn’t immune to sexual things at all, but she had no choice but to get agitated because she didn’t know that it would be coated in this way.

“It’s so impeccable that your wife wouldn’t be able to handle it.”

I’m going crazy.

Beth regained herself and watched the response.

Before the host explained, everyone shook when they saw Kedrick’s face, but when they learned of his use, the ladies went crazy.

No, there was an uproar from both men and women.

She thought that faces can possess men and women of all ages, so it worked well in places like this. Beth looked at Kedrick.

“…..!’

Then, Beth’s eyes met Kendrick’s.

He was far away but he looked right there at Beth’s place. It can be said that it was an illusion, but he waslooking at her.

“Come on! Now the auction starts! The starting price is 200 gold!”

“300!”

“450!”

“700!”

The host’s face was full of surprise at the quickly rising price. It was covered in a mask, but she was sure that he laughed on the inside.

Kedrick really enjoyed the situation, and by the time the price was about to stop a bit, he made a pretty look and made people’s spirit soar.

“2100!”

You’re enjoying it.

Maybe he’s doing that to set a new record for this auction house. He seemed to calculate something every time his ransom went up.

Beth, who looked at him enjoying everything so much, also had on a peculiar look, as usual.

“… yes! 4500 gold! This is the best price since this auction house opened!”

Beth lamented, as she thought that the tax of the people of the province was used for such a useless place.

The noble lady who succeeded in the purchase snorted her nose while she held the sign in a sense of accomplishment, and the rest of the people clapped while they hid their regrets.

Kedrick still smiled. Unlike usual, he looked a little proud.

It was really just a kind of play for him. After a tag with someone’s name was put on his shirt, Kedrick was taken off the stage by someone else.

Even though he was treated as a product like that, he didn’t blink.  He doesn’t reveal his disgust. Moreover, it was strange that he didn’t say anything while he looked at Beth, who casually handed him over as a slave.

Beth knew that his actions have been radical this time. Kedrick was annoying, but he hasn’t hurt Claire yet, so why did he do this?

I should’ve just told him to go somewhere else. However, if she did so, she could have been denied admission. Beth comforted herself so. To soothe herself, she opened the wine bottle and drank a glass.

Her body in the past wasn’t very strong against alcohol, but Beth’s wasn’t.  Villagers used to soak damaged orchids in alcohol. At first, the liquor was so strong, but she adapted to it, so the liquor prepared here was just like juice.

Several more came after him. She glanced every time a new person came out, wondering if it was ‘that child’ she was looking for, but it wasn’t.

Sometimes she saw a little child, but it wasn’t.

It’s almost at the end. She didn’t want to stay at this unpleasant scene for longer, so when she thought about it, Beth’s eyes naturally frowned.

How many more slaves were there? The host then shouted that it was time to take a break.

Since it’s time for her break, she tried to stretch, saying that she needed to get out of the air for a while.

“What?”

A skinny child came out.

Beth naturally looked at the child with an opera glass in her hand. A tacky skinny boy.

Usually, when they are about to be sent out at auction, they will be washed clean, but this one was dirty and messy.

No way. Even though she thought so, her heart started beating wildly. Beth’s intuition said That’s the child.

That child is the one she was looking for.

The child was covered in dust, but it was a similar hair color that she imagined. She could even tell without a closer look. Since Beth was dominated by the memories of ‘her’ in her previous life, her premonition had never been wrong.

“He was a boy who has no characteristics except that his face is a little smooth! He is still 8 years old, so if you have a hobby, how about raising it to your liking?”

Everyone laughed at the words of the humorous host. Among them, Beth was the only one who did not laugh.

“The starting price is 10 gold!”

It was the lowest price since the auction started. It was a moment to show the child’s location.

“11 gold!”

“10 gold!”

“9 gold and 40 silver!”

Everyone deliberately played and mocked the little boy. Everyone was familiar with and enjoyed the breaks they had done at each auction.  As they renewed the lower price little by little, the child’s body shrank.

Then, a woman’s voice rang the hall.

“10000 gold.”

The rattled laughter stopped, and everyone turned to the place where they heard it. The second floor, covered with cloth, but not visible.

“… Yes…?”

The host asked again in a dazed voice if it was unexpected.

Then the woman from before said again. “Did you get deaf after getting old? I’m going to buy that child for 10,000 gold.”

The woman laughed. “So this boring break is now over.”

It was Beth.
