Be My Heroine Chapter 30

Then, I wish you good luck (1)

There was a small commotion about Ryan being part of the Count’s staff.

A very small commotion.

It was because he squeezed the tears and told the chief maid of the house about his family history. A few people then learnt of the situation through the chief maid. After rumors came out, Ryan became an idol among the employees.

Every maid, servant, butler, or even the stables – every time they saw Ryan, they looked at him with moist eyes, and sometimes even gave him delicious food.

He walked through the garden as he ate the cookies he received as a gift. Beth advised him to stay out of sight of the count’s employees. Ryan replied yes at the time but he did not listen.

Ryan hadn’t seen both of them as he walked around this mansion, so the boundaries had long been broken in the first place.

“Huh, such an ignorant woman.”

As he talked nonsense to Beth, Ryan pointed at Beth and said that she was an ignorant woman, without knowledge that she was the reason he’s alive.  Claire was excluded because she had no reason to gossip about her even if she had a knife to her throat.

Beth tended to let Ryan swear at her. One day, when Kedrick asked why she left him alone, the only answer that came out was ‘because he is still young.’

It didn’t seem like that was just that, according to Kedrick.

“Oh, I’m tired of seeing the garden.”

It was amazing at first, but it was just that after a few times. Ryan squatted in the corner and began to paint with stones.

He drew a small circle at first, but as he began to concentrate, there were many other patterns and gradually the amount of geometric patterns began to grow.

As Ryan started to have fun and focus, a shadow cast over him.

“What is that?”

As he lifted his head, there was a young girl with radiant blond hair that was lit by the sunlight.

Claire Gordon.

It was the lady Beth served.

Kedrick was visible behind Claire. He had not followed Beth around since day one. In Claire’s arms was a rabbit doll with green eyes made by Kedrick one day.

“What, what are you doing?”

“Don’t you see it?”

Claire pulled up courage and asked but Ryan replied and complained for nothing. Then Claire quickly fell down in a flash and bowed her head.

It was then Ryan that panicked. “Ah, hey! Hey you! What are you? You’re so scared!”

Ryan threw the pebble held in the distance, tried to touch Claire, saw the dirt on his hand, wiped his hand and grabbed Claire’s forearm. Ryan looked up at Claire, who was bigger than himself.

“Hey! Are you crying?”

At Ryan’s bewildered question-a magic spell that makes even those who don’t cry-cry, Claire tears burst.

“Hey! Ah! If you cry, Hey! I’m going to get scolded by Beth!”

“Haha, he is making fun of the lady ~.”

“Noisy monster! What did you do without guarding her while escorting her?!”

“I told you that adults are not intervening in the fights of young children.”

That night when Beth brought Ryan, she met with Kedrick and said that she needed Claire and Ryan to get in touch and socialize.

Rya would be leaving anyway, so Kedrick simply nodded at her request to have the two meet occasionally until then. In other words, it was Beth’s instruction not to interrupt. Instructions that Claire or Ryan should not be stopped unless someone was likely to be seriously injured.

Kedrick saw Claire crying and Ryan screaming, laughing, and saw the geometric figure drawn below.

“…..?”

He tilted his head down and looked at the picture.

“Hmm~.”

As he knew to some extent why Beth had brought Aiden and made him lie saying that he was Ryan and Beth was his sister, Kedrick smiled and erased the graffiti with his feet.

“Hey! That’s what I drew hard! Ah!!!!”

Kedrick contemplated when he saw Ryan busy defending his first masterpiece to appease the crying Claire.

I don’t know why she knows the value of this child’s existence. Kedrick thought so, and his eyes lit up.

“Ryan, I’ll give you a paper and a pen, so draw on paper. When you draw in the garden, you’ll get in trouble with the gardener.” With that said, Kedrick stepped in between the two and held Ryan’s head. Ryan was flustered.

“Hey! Hey! Put me down! Monster !!”

“Hahaha, if you call me Kedrick, I’ll drop you.”

Claire stopped crying and looked at Kedrick with amazement. “Why?”

Kedrick folded his eyes and smiled and Claire hesitated and said. “Well, that… it looks fun.”

“Aha.”

It was fun for Ryan to hang onto Kedrick’s arm. Kedrick thought of listening to Claire as well, and then remembered that he’ll get an earful from Beth and just held Claire in one arm.

“I can’t go around so long, so let’s go quickly.”

“Where?”

“To eat something delicious!” And where he took them was the back door that led to the kitchen.

The time between lunch and dinner was a quiet time in the kitchen, but today the Countess ordered to bring her some snacks, and a little bustle was seen.

“Do you like chocolate?” Kedrick put them down, went into the kitchen, and immediately came out with two large pieces of chocolate cake.

A thin layer of whipped cream was spread between the moist chocolate sponges, and smooth chocolate was coated on the top. A little coconut powder was sprinkled on top of it, and each piece of chocolate was decorated.

“What is it? Suddenly?”

Ryan, who swallowed the  delicious-looking cake, looked at him with a more rational brain than the average 8-year-old, not unlike a salivary gland who was honest with desire.

“It’s a bribe.”

“Br, bribe?”

“Yes, because if Beth knows that I’ve gotten in between your fight, I’ll be punished.” As he said that, he gave a fork to their hands and Kedrick laughed.

The two glanced at each other and began to eat a bite of their cake as if they had never fought.

After Claire got out of her cell, her expression became more and more expressive, and now, when she ate something delicious, her happy expression was evident. It was a phenomenon that aroused confidence when someone would see that expression and knew that one accepted their feelings.

Ryan, on the other hand, knew that the cake was sweet enough to melt the tongue and tasty enough to make the cheeks pop, so the expression was minimal.

This was because he has never experienced similar feelings of love.

Claire took a bite or two and then suddenly looked at Ryan as he ate the cake with a subtle expression from the side.

“It tastes awful?” Claire looked at Ryan with an anxious look. The mansion’s chef was very friendly from Claire’s point of view and made delicious food.

Anne, who works here, was so kind that she was one of the maids who took care of her the day Beth was away for a while, and one day she brought Claire a delicious tart even though she hurt her leg.

Claire gazed at Ryan with sad eyes, as she thought that Anne would be sad if she knew that somebody thought her cake wasn’t good.

Ryan, who coughed in the face of Claire’s round eyes, cut a piece of cake that wasn’t in his mouth and dropped it on Claire’s plate. Chocolate decorations were topped on that part.

“You eat!”

“Eh, it’s not delicious?”

“Who would give it something to someone if it’s not tasty! I’m giving it to you because it’s delicious!”

Claire blinked her eyes and thought. If she ate something delicious, she would give it to Beth too.

“I’m sorry, I’m sorry… I’m sorry, I’m giving it to you!

“If you keep doing that, you’ll be in trouble.”

“Noisy, monster!”

Claire quickly saw the cake that had grown in quantity. If she refused all of this, she would be ignoring the sincerity of others and, with this line of thought, put a piece of chocolate on his remaining cake.

“For me, I ate something delicious the last time.”

“……”

“So it’s okay to have one chocolate… Let’s eat it together…..?”

Kedrick took a few steps back and watched as the two children had a warm conversation.

A smile appeared on his face as he watched them. So, a different smile than usual.

It was comfortable like the spring sun and cozy like a cotton blanket on a cold day. His vision was fixated on the little children.

Beth would be surprised to hear it, but he liked the little children.  He liked the children who were purely favorable and showed no malicious intent. He thought that it would not be seen by adults, but he liked the purity that seemed transparent.

The two children had a conversation as if there were no previous frictions.

Kedrick slowly squeezed his eyes, and stretched all the way. He now felt calm in his life. He has never felt this calm since a very young boy. That left him with satisfaction, so much sio that he wanted to keep this day forever.

Although I don’t think it will be so.

At that time, he heard a rustling sound somewhere.

“I smell something bad somewhere.”

“… Madam.”

Kedrick lowered his head and bowed toward the lady who appeared.

She was Countess Gordon.

“What nonsense all of a sudden?”

James who drank the delicious lemon tea that Beth made, as she asked, he spat it out, “Do you ever believe in reincarnation or regression… something like that?”

“Are you a heretic?”

“No.”

To be precise, it was not a religion. Dana bled a cold sweat in between them.

James was a professional, so he has to hide a lot of things, and he has to act accordingly. Therefore, Beth couldn’t give a suspicious look, and wondered if she hid something right now.

But then, James wouldn’t have accepted the deal with me.

Even if he knew Claire’s move in the future, if so, he would approach or offer something as soon as he knew of the existence.

Because Beth was originally not in this story. Is it not worth it?

Beth busily rolled her head. James clicked his tongue and sat down against his sofa.

“What’s the problem?”

“I want to give up with you.”

Unlike James, Dana squeezed her eyes with her puzzled look.

“Isn’t it weird?”

Beth opened her mouth heavily.

“You know this word, neither Kedrick nor Brier knows. You didn’t even know my colleagues.”

Beth said, recalling her opponents Julia, Anne and Catherine, whom she had asked to experiment once before she left. As a bonus, she also asked Jenny.

All of them were confused, saying they didn’t know what it meant.

“I only know you, James.”

“Well, do you happen to think that James… found out while he was working?”

“Can you explain what you mean?”

James shook his eyes at Beth’s question. It was an unusual mistake.

James couldn’t say anything when asked if he could explain it. He had no idea how he knew the word.

He just knew. The moment Beth spoke, he had no choice but to know immediately in what context the word was used.

“… why is there something I don’t know in my head?”

When she saw the confused appearance of James, Beth spit out a simple, heartfelt joke. “Take the empire’s best information award.”

“This is not the original reason I wanted to meet you today.” Beth grabbed the warm lemon tea and sip a few sips. “There is only one cause of your death.”

James, who showed a little agitation, quickly calmed down and looked at Beth.

“It’s because I tracked the identity of the current Emperor’s brother.”

[Theodore Rick Innomore.]

The villain from the novel that Beth had read from.

He never showed himself directly in the story, but suddenly appeared as the final villain when the emperor died.

James died in the pursuit of his identity.
