Raise a Baby in an Apocalypse 12

How to Raise a Baby in an Apocalypse - Chapter 12 - What Would Happen To Her Daughter?

In her heart, she thanked Zhan Lian’s ancestors of eight generations before she quickly ran back to her own room by moving hurriedly against the wall.

The lochia that flowed beneath her was too much for the sanitary panties to contain. The red blood streaked down An Ran’s pants, staining her lower body completely in blood. The bloody footprints extended from the end of the corridor to the other, and when she reached the door of her ward room, she almost passed out from the blood loss. From the end of this corridor, the faint song of the “Little Fox Spirit” was still playing. Zhan Lian had been calling her phone, over and over again.

An Ran sat down near the entrance of the room with tears rolling down her face. She watched the end of the other corridor where a group of monsters all gathered around her phone. One by one, they surrounded her phone, and in no time, a large crowd of monsters had formed where the phone was, searching for the source of the music.

Why did it turn out like this? What on earth had happened to this world? An Ran curled up at the door, tears streaming down her face as she felt helpless. She had once eagerly waited for Zhan Lian’s call for countless days and nights. No matter how late it was, she would definitely answer his call.

But now, would she dare to answer Zhan Lian’s call? Could she? She couldn’t. She was just an ordinary woman who had nothing—no muscles as tough as steel like Zhan Lian’s, and no supernatural abilities. What was she supposed to do now? Besides the path of death, what other paths could she take?

She still had her daughter. If An Ran died, what would happen to her daughter?

An Ran wiped away the never-ending tears rolling down her cheeks. Due to excessive sweat and not being able to wash her face, a layer of dirt has already piled up on her skin. When her tears rolled down, An Ran would wipe it away, making her face look more gaudy.

Suddenly, she thought of calling the police. The hospital was cursed, and a lot of people had become demented. Many were clearly “evolving” too. This was already a situation that she could no longer handle by herself. She needed to seek the help of the police right now, and only the police could get her daughter out from the neonatal unit.

Yes, that’s right. An Ran felt that these dazed people with yellow phlegm running out of their mouth were “evolving”! The so-called evolution probably began from how that nurse was; retaining some awareness while mechanically repeating their tasks, and then developing into the last stage where fangs would grow out, completing their “evolution”, giving them the ability to devour humans!

Looking at the people swaying by with vacant expressions in the corridor, An Ran had no clue whether they would eventually “evolve” into man-eating monsters. She wasn’t sure, but the only thing she was certain about was to call the police. She had to!

At the thought of calling the police, she quickly mustered up her strength and got up to open the door behind her. She then crawled into the room. The woman in bed number 17 was still laying down on the bed, while the woman in bed number 18 was still trying to call people on her phone, pacing back and forth, looking extremely agitated.

“Why aren’t you answering? Why haven’t you picked up the call yet?” The delicate woman of number 18 shouted in frustration. As she turned around and saw An Ran’s blood-soaked pants, she exclaimed in surprise, “Aiya, what happened to you?”

“Are you okay?”

Hu Zhen of bed number 17 who was lying on the bed unable to move, forced herself to move her body when she saw An Ran’s disheveled appearance while she crawled on the ground. She tried to prop herself up, but as soon as she moved, she cried out in pain.
