Raise a Baby in an Apocalypse 4

How to Raise a Baby in an Apocalypse - Chapter 4 - The Future Was Beyond Her Decision Now

Zhan Lian did not seize everything back after the divorce, nor did he comment about the house and the car. Consequently, An Ran continued to live in the house absent-mindedly. She would immediately leave should the day come when Zhan Lian decided to take them back.

Additionally, An Ran felt even more embarrassed by the one hundred thousand yuan that Zhan Lian silently deposited into her bank card. She had no idea when he did it, and what it could it have meant. An Ran had no clue what to make of it, and even if she wanted to find out, she couldn’t even contact Zhan Lian anyway. She thought to herself, could the money be an alimony or break-up fee from Zhan Lian?

On top of the previous living expenses that Zhan Lian had been continuously transferring to her account every month, he would also send thousands of red envelopes through WeChat as soon as she tried to contact him through the platform, as if the red envelopes contained no money but a string of numbers. After adding up the unused money she had accumulated, she had about three hundred thousand yuan in her possession.

How could a mere soldier possibly have this much money?!

An Ran had not been a bright child when she was young, as evident from her below average grades in school. On the other hand, Zhan Lian graduated from an army school, and with those exceptional grades he could maybe enroll into Tsinghua University immediately if he didn’t choose to serve in the army. And her? Aptech!

And so An Ran did not enroll into a university but instead a technical school. She didn’t want to think of those complicated matters anymore. What she knew at this moment was that she insisted on the divorce. Besides not returning home, Zhan Lian had not been unfaithful throughout the entire marriage. In this regard, An Ran still had to return the money he gave her.

Indeed, she needed to return them to Zhan Lian, but she was not able to get in contact with him in any way despite having WeChat and QQ – the communication tools of the new era. During the last three months when she was still arguing with Zhan Lian, he disliked the fact that she kept nagging about the divorce and called her annoying, in which he subsequently blocked her. So even if she had the heart to return the money, she had no idea how.

For the time being, this money would be used as a requisition. The future was beyond her decision now.

An Ran has no shortage of money after claiming Zhan Lian’s as her own. She knew that this hospital had a confinement agency that cost ten thousand yuan per month, which was quite expensive. However, a woman must be well taken care of during her confinement period, otherwise how would she have the means to watch her daughter grow up? An Ran pondered about it and decided that she wanted to hire a confinement nanny from the hospital back to her house so that she could be well taken care of.

And while looking after her child, she could open up a Taobao store or WeChat Business at the side. No matter what, she would wait until her child had entered kindergarten before venturing out to look for a job.

Because her child wasn’t by her side, her heart felt empty. But as she thought about her future, her heart was gradually filled to the brim. An Ran cheered herself up so that she could put all her effort into becoming a tough mother. She must become a good mother.

“Bed numbeeeer 16, whaaaaat is your nameeee?” A nurse asked at a slow pace, dragging the last note in the syllables while opening the curtains near An Ran, unenthusiastically.

An Ran rolled over and was about to respond to the nurse’s question when she was taken aback by the face of the masked nurse. She could see the uncovered part of the nurse’s skin hued in ash gray color, and thick veins running vertically and horizontally across the nurse’s forehead were faintly pulsing.

How should one put it nicely? This nurse seemed like a living corpse.

What is wrong with this nurse?

An Ran was speechless from the moment of shock. The nurse stood upright next to An Ran’s bed with her eyes seemingly enveloped by a layer of ash, staring right at An Ran. There was no focus in her eyes either. The nurse looked somewhat confused, as if she had no clue why and what she came here to do in the first place.
