True Daughter

True Daughter 3

True Daughter - Chapter 3

In their minds, Xue Yuan and Xue Chen were true siblings, but Xue Chen's level of concern just now seemed excessive.

Wait a minute.

Why did they believe Zhou Yang's words?

Xue Chen and Xue Yuan had always been like this; how could they doubt their sibling relationship?

Wu Meijun was utterly infuriated. She felt that something was wrong with this situation. "There must be a problem with the test results. She's not my daughter."

Her daughter was elegant and refined; how could she be this person who came back and immediately tried to sow discord?

She didn't believe it.

"I want to redo the test."

When Wu Meijun proposed this, A’ Yang didn't object, but Zhou Yang seemed somewhat disappointed.

The biological parents she had imagined might not have been affectionate towards her, but she didn't expect them to be this outright hostile.

They weren't switched children, they were intentionally swapped!

Her biological father's grudge against her was blaming her for not keeping the secret forever, for ruining his perfect and happy family.

Xue Yuan, with her arm heavily bandaged, was brought back by Xue Chen.

A’ Yang looked at her in confusion. "Is your leg broken too? Why let him get so close to you?"

Xue Yuan seemed like a startled rabbit,

quickly pulling away from Xue Chen's grip.

However, her foot twisted, and she stumbled backward.

"Ah-" a cry of surprise, Xue Chen hurriedly pulled her back.

"My foot," Xue Yuan's teary gaze was full of helplessness.

A’ Yang remained expressionless. Though the attire of the people here was strange, she had seen such tactics far too often.

Zhou Yang, on the other hand, was astonished. Why was Xue Yuan's body so fragile?

When Wu Meijun mentioned redoing the DNA test, Xue Yuan's eyes widened. She seemed genuinely surprised. "Mom, there's really no need. My sister looks a lot like you."

Wu Meijun glanced at Zhou Yang, her

impatience seemingly on the verge of spilling over. "Let's do it again. I need to know who my real daughter is."

Xue Jianping didn't oppose it and directly contacted a hospital he knew.

A’ Yang didn't have any objections; she even cooperated quite willingly.

Zhou Yang walked dejectedly beside her. "It seems they really don't welcome me."

She could feel the Xue family's rejection of her, and she even sensed that Xue Jianping visibly sighed in relief when A’ Yang refused to change her name.

"Not happy?"

"Immortal, I don't want to go back to this family."

"I've said it before, I'm not an immortal; I'm a

Demon."

"I don't believe you. If you're not an immortal, why did you help me? If you're not an immortal, why did you gain merit after punishing those people?" After becoming a ghost, Zhou Yang felt she had somehow gained insight into certain matters.

A’ Yang closed her eyes and leaned back in the chair.

Why did she help her?

Perhaps because the terrible state Zhou Yang was in reminded her of her own past.

She was born into the divine clan, but on the day of her birth, she was declared a natural- born demon. As a result, her biological mother was executed for the crime of betraying the immortals. She herself was secretly sent away by her mother but didn't know who threw her into the Demon Ridge.

Luckily, a demon mother who had recently lost her child adopted her. These details were what A’ Yang had managed to find out.

The demon mother said she wasn't a natural-

born demon, her demonic nature was

different from theirs.

She didn't know why she was like this.

A’ Yang didn't understand either, nor did she

care to.

Every day, they lived in exile. Demons were either killed by their own kind or by those righteous immortals. Regardless, demons never had a good ending.

The demon mother who raised her had told

her to run before she was killed.

However, A’ Yang couldn't escape. She was blown off a cliff by a group of righteous warriors.

If you were to compare the injuries she sustained then to Zhou Yang's current state, hers were far more severe.

But she didn't die; she couldn't die.

It was at that moment when that person arrived.

The demons seemed to fear him, and he brought her back and treated her injuries.

He also told her that she surprisingly had the potential to cultivate immortal techniques.

"The test results are out."

A’ Yang snapped back to reality, not dwelling on those past events. Ever since she stepped out of the Demon Sealing Cave, she vowed that the person responsible must pay.

Wu Meijun took the test results. She had done two sets of tests: one for Zhou Yang and another for Xue Yuan.

The results showed that Zhou Yang was indeed her biological daughter, while Xue Yuan was not.

The blow of witnessing this firsthand was quite heavy. She couldn't believe that the girl she had seen growing up wasn't her biological child.

"Mom." Xue Yuan's face was already wet with tears, and Wu Meijun felt extreme heartache.

"Oh my god, why would something like this happen to me?"

A’ Yang followed them quietly, all the way back to the Xue family.

"A Ji, why are you here?" Xue Yuan looked surprised to see Meng Ji waiting at the door.

"I heard about it and came to check on you." Meng Ji looked at Xue Yuan seriously, his gaze sweeping over Xue Yuan's injured arm and her limping steps. Her eyebrows furrowed, "How did you get hurt like this?"

A’ Yang got out of the car and stood silently behind them. Her gaze was fixed on Meng Ji, never wavering.

Meng Ji cast a disgusted glance at her; he had seen many women like her. "Was it her doing?"

Zhou Yang shrank back a step, sensing that A’ Yang's gaze on Meng Ji wasn't one of admiration but rather a killing intent. She could tell A’ Yang wanted to kill Meng Ji.

Trembling, she tugged at A’ Yang's sleeve,

bringing her back to her senses.

"It was her who pushed Xue Yuan down the stairs," Xue Chen, standing on the side, said bluntly.

Meng Ji's expression darkened instantly. He lifted his foot to approach A’ Yang, but Xue Yuan held him back. "Don't listen to my brother's nonsense. It was my fault. Really, it was my fault."

"I'll let you off this time," Meng Ji glanced at A’ Yang and stepped back to Xue Yuan's side.

The Xue family members all went inside, and whether intentionally or not, Xue Chen closed the door, locking A’ Yang outside.

"How could they do this?" Zhou Yang was almost infuriated.

The Xue family had no feelings for her, so was she supposed to have feelings for them?

Emotions are mutual; genuine feelings don't just appear out of nowhere. But with such blatant rejection, Zhou Yang would be strange not to be angry. "They could have just said they won't support me. I'm almost an adult anyway. Why put up such a show for everyone to see?"

Trying to maintain a good reputation while allowing Xue Yuan to slander her—it was infuriating.

"Don't you want to hear what they're saying inside?" A’ Yang suddenly spoke up.

Zhou Yang hesitated for a moment.

Suddenly, she realized that she was just a soul now, and what could a mere wall do to stop her?

She floated in and, after a while, came out, sitting grumpily beside A’ Yang. "They're discussing how to bully you."

"Do you think they can actually bully me?"

Zhou Yang was taken aback. She suddenly remembered the moment when A’ Yang possessed her body, covered in blood as she touched her shattered knee, and spoke to her, who was still just a soul.

"Very well, I'll tear apart anyone who hurts you."

Dominant, imposing.

Just like those empresses from the novels she used to read.

"They're here," A’ Yang said.

The door opened, and Xue Chen stood at the doorway, looking at A’ Yang with disgust, as if looking at trash. He scowled at A’ Yang. "Come in."

A’ Yang didn't move.

"Hey, I told you to come in. Didn't you hear me?"

A’ Yang still didn't move.

Xue Chen walked impatiently towards A’ Yang, wanting to pull her up. Just as he reached A’ Yang's side, he stumbled over something and was about to fall, about to crash into A’ Yang. At that moment, A’ Yang suddenly stood up.

"Ah-"

Xue Chen hit the chair hard with his head, and a lump instantly formed on his forehead.

Zhou Yang immediately clutched her stomach and burst into laughter on the side.

A’ Yang lifted her foot and walked into the

house, with Xue Chen following behind, nursing his forehead with a resentful expression.

After entering the room, A’ Yang casually closed the door.

Looking at the door that had nearly hit his own nose, Xue Chen muttered, "…"

||

If he hadn't remembered his manners, he would have jumped up and cursed at the door. He understood that A’ Yang was retaliating for him closing the door earlier. But he hadn't done it on purpose; he just couldn't accept the sudden addition of someone into the family.

Who did this wild girl think she was? What gave her the right to lock him out?

Couldn't she just ring the doorbell?

Xue Chen thought, walked to the door, and

pressed the doorbell. However, for some reason, the doorbell didn't ring.

"Damn it, why is the doorbell broken?"

Zhou Yang was happily laughing on the side, even sticking her tongue out. "Serves you right! You bullied me, so this is payback, nya~"

"Hey, where did my brother go?" Xue Yuan looked puzzled, gazing behind A’ Yang, but no one followed her in.

A’ Yang walked directly to a seat opposite and stared at the four people in front of her.

Wu Meijun frowned, looking displeased as she gazed at A’ Yang. "Didn't you hear Xue Yuan talking to you? Haven't your parents taught you what manners are?"

A’ Yang raised an eyebrow. "If you're unhappy with something, you can go down and talk to them."

Wu Meijun's face turned green. "What do you mean?"

"Sister, how can you be like this? Look at how upset you're making Mom." Xue Yuan reached out to comfort Wu Meijun, giving A’ Yang a disapproving look.

A’ Yang snorted.

Her demeanor only added to the Xue family's displeasure.

Meng Ji's eyes held the same disdainful look, as if a person like her couldn't even compare to Xue Yuan's pinky finger.

The housemaid Hu Ma opened the door and let Xue Chen in.

The group of people stared at A’ Yang as if they were judges, their gazes unfriendly, and the atmosphere notably tense.

"Regarding the incident where you accidentally switched with Xue Yuan, our family has discussed it and made a decision."

"Switched?" A’ Yang raised an eyebrow, looking at them. She remembered, wasn't the

situation quite different from what they were saying?

"It was just an accident, and Xue Yuan is innocent too. Her biological parents have passed away, so she will be your older sister from now on." A’ Yang hadn't finished speaking when Wu Meijun eagerly interrupted.

A’ Yang smiled. "Sure."

"I only have Xue Yuan as a younger sister, don't even think about replacing her." Xue Chen quickly followed.

A’ Yang nodded. "Sure."

"My fiancée is only Xue Yuan. You don't need to entertain any thoughts." Meng Ji didn't even bother glancing at A’ Yang.

A’ Yang didn't lift her head. "Alright."

Zhou Yang was furious, infuriated by these shameless people, but A’ Yang remained unaffected.

"We should leave here. I don't want to stay in this house anymore."

Zhou Yang regretted; she shouldn't have expected anything from this family. Even if they were family, what did it matter? Eighteen years of estrangement couldn't be dismissed.

A’ Yang glanced at her but didn't respond.
