Raise a Baby in an Apocalypse 17
How to Raise a Baby in an Apocalypse - Chapter 17 - We Need To Think Of A Way
“AH, AH, AH!!” Chen Jiao stood by the door, still letting out a blood-curdling scream. Suddenly, the bathroom door behind her swung open, and An Ran rushed out to grab the back of Chen Jiao’s clothes, dragging her into the room before closing the door quickly and locking it!
“Ah, ah, ah! There’s monsters, there’s monsters! Ah aaah!!”
“Stop screaming!!!”
An Ran raised her hand and shoved Chen Jiao with force. The zombies outside were banging on the door, and Chen Jiao continued to scream loudly inside the room. This caused An Ran to slap Chen Jiao across the face, snapping her out of her panic state. She then gripped Chen Jiao’s shoulders tightly and whispered with a stern face,
“I told you earlier, there are people outside eating other people, and you didn’t believe me. It looks like they listen to sounds to locate their prey, so stop screaming!”
“I… I!” Chen Jiao was too scared to speak further. But then, as if she suddenly realized something, she pushed An Ran’s hands off her shoulders and whispered back to An Ran with a hint of complaint, “It’s your fault for not explaining properly! If you had explained clearly, would I have gone out?”
“Didn’t I explain it?”
An Ran was so infuriated by Chen Jiao’s words that she almost had a heart attack. She bent down slightly and walked back to the bathroom while clutching her stomach to retrieve Hu Zhen’s phone before returning it. She then walked back to her own bed and turned towards that woman of bed number 18. With a hint of sarcasm, she said, “Fine. You can pretend that I never said anything. I can see that we’re not on the same page!”
Since they were not on the same page, An Ran vowed that from now on, no matter what information she has, she would never tell this woman of bed number 18. Looking at the ungrateful attitude of that woman, did she not consider that An Ran had pulled her back just in time to prevent the zombies from eating her when she was screaming out loud?
This kind of spoiled woman would always push blames on other people whenever something wrong happened. She and An Ran had nothing in common, so they could never team up, never trust each other, and could never be partners!
After categorizing that woman as someone she couldn’t trust or befriend, An Ran felt a wave of exhaustion washing over her. She laid back on her bed and began to contemplate the next step. The woman on bed number 18, however, was still resenting An Ran for not stopping her from going outside, causing her to be frightened by the zombies. When she saw that An Ran had ignored her, she simply went back to her bed and laid down.
Chen Jiao, in a huff, also ignored An Ran. After returning to her own bed, she took out her phone and called her husband, as well as everyone in her contact list to ask for help.
With no exception, her phone had lost signal too, meaning she could not make any calls.
Hu Zhen of bed number 17 seemed to have a more amiable personality. She glanced at bed number 18 and then at An Ran, who was laying down on her bed behind the curtain. Enduring the pain in her abdomen, she turned to her side slightly and picked up her phone, dialing the numbers in the contact list as well.
Unsurprisingly, without exception, her phone had no signal as well, meaning she too, could not make any calls.
It seemed like in the entire world, there were only three mothers left in the room. Besides the room with the lights on, the rest were engulfed in endless darkness.
“Um, An Ran. What are you planning to do now?” Unable to resist any longer, Hu Zhen finally asked with a worried look on her face.
The curtain beside An Ran’s bed was pulled aside slightly, revealing her dirt-covered face. She laid on her pillow and turned her head slightly. With her eyes open, she stared at the ceiling for a while before finally responding to Hu Zhen, “We need to think of a way to get out.”
