Raise a Baby in an Apocalypse 30

How to Raise a Baby in an Apocalypse - Chapter 30 - As If Aided By Divine Assistance

Where was her daughter then? In a state of numb agony, An Ran retrieved her hand from the blue light incubator and looked around the vast blue-lit room. Apart from the other incubator, there were no more crying children. Only two remained untouched by the transformation into monsters; the others had either been devoured or had silently sprouted fangs.

With a “clang”, the remaining blue light incubator was overturned by the two zombies.

The infant inside, along with the blue light incubator, tumbled to the ground, causing the infant to cry louder. The lid of the blue light incubator was smashed open, and one of the zombies found a way to reach its hand towards the baby inside.

An Ran turned her head and gazed at the baby’s face. Even though it was blindfolded, the baby’s face still gave her a familiar feeling amidst the blue light. Why did it resemble Zhan Lian so much?

Every mother can recognize their own child at a glance from the baby’s facial features. Although the mother and child had only met briefly, and all newborns looked quite similar with their wrinkled faces, the ability to recognize their own flesh and blood at a single glance was an innate ability for a mother.

She experienced a mixture of surprise and joy in her heart, and let out a sharp scream. Gripping a knife, she charged forward and pounced on the zombie, knocking it to the ground. With the blade in hand, she struck it down.

Before she could retrieve her fruit knife from the zombie beneath her, another zombie bit into her neck from behind. Unfettered, she desperately twisted her body, and stepped backwards, falling onto the zombie. In a frenzy, she screamed, exerted herself, and went wild. As if aided by divine assistance, she managed to cut off the zombie’s arm that held her and finally freed herself.

Ignoring the two bite marks on her neck, she swiftly turned around, brandishing her knife and fatally stabbing the zombie with the severed arm behind her.

Anyone who touched her daughter would die, without exception!

In the shattered blue light incubator, a child wearing only a diaper continued to cry. Disregarding the knife in her hand, she reached out to pick up the child. However, she hesitated upon realizing her hands were stained with dirty blood. Tearfully, she wiped the blood on her clothes before carefully lifting the child out of the blue light incubator.

Opening the wristband on the child’s wrist, she saw the words “An Ran” written on it. This was her daughter!

Indeed, she was!

This is great! Thank heavens, thank Guanyin Bodhisattva, thank Jesus Christ, thank Chairman Mao*.

T/N: “毛爷爷” an endearing term for the late Mao Zedong.

Overwhelmed with both tears and laughter, she mentally expressed her immense gratitude towards everyone, past and present, inside and outside. She then, despite her disheveled appearance, affectionately kissed her daughter’s little face. The child’s eyes were covered with a blindfold, her head tilted to the side as she emitted feeble low moans. Her throat sounded hoarse, and instinctively, she nuzzled against An Ran’s chest.

“Hungry, aren’t you? You’re hungry.”

Wiping away her tears, An Ran spoke gently to her daughter. At this moment, she felt no pain anywhere on her body. Even though she had just been bitten by a zombie on her neck, she felt exceptionally fine. Finding her daughter seemed like a metamorphosis, and she was filled with unprecedented vigor. It was as if she had received divine assistance, and her thoughts became so clear that she started to feel excited!
